no 2005 spore animation way more logic, i think the tripod walking animation way more better than the new one, spore 2005 beta was better:).
The issue is that the 2005 GDC Demo didn't have procedural animations at all.
In fact, it didn't have gameplay - it was almost all scripted, and some Spore developers themselves have stated this too.
Exactly! It was pretty standard in the game industry at the time (& now) to make "fake" demos, altho they're not necessarily meant to be deceiving! It's moreso to present an idea for what the final game COULD look like, and what they're hoping it WILL look like. Unfortunately this usually ends up with them making a lot of things that work in a self-contained tech demo but are absolutely not viable in a real full game, like what we see in the Spore demos. They weren't trying to lie and claim the game was more complex than it ended up being, they just didn't have the foresight to see that some of the things they made purely for the demos were never going to be possible to implement. I do think that what the spore demos showed us has become more possible over time, it's just a matter of someone actually bothering to recreate the tech they showed off in a real playable format, not to mention the fact that some of it is honestly much better on paper.
