Willowtree is a useful program that allows you to modify weapons, artifacts, grenade mods, shields, class mods, weapon proficiencies, ammo SDU Upgrades, character level, skill points, cash, and current location right from your Borderlands game save file. You can even mix and match parts for items and make hybridized/altered items that otherwise wouldn't spawn or exist in Borderlands. What makes this program even better is that although it was originally meant for the X-Box 360, it works for 360, PS3, and PC Borderlands game saves.
-Methods of transfering your game save to your computer:
--PC Version: PC users don't have to worry about file transferring as the game save files are located right on the computer. It's just a matter of finding them and the opening them via Willowtree.
--PS3 Version: PS3 users can use a flash drive to copy the game save file to and then after copying it to their computer, they can open the file and mod it via willowtree. PS3 users with the old 60 GB and 80 GB hardrives (As I see the newer PS3s don't have the slots) can use SD, Mini SD, CF, and PRO cards as well as flash drives, provided they have the proper slots for them on thier computer, or a device that plugs the card into the USB port.
--X-Box 360 Version: 360 users (As this the most cost effective method) after updating their 360s (if they are older ones) can use a 1 GB to 16 GB Flash drive to copy their game save data onto and then after copying it to their computer, they can open the file and mod it via willowtree. Why it has to be between 1 and 16 GB, I dunno, but apparently that is what works. More costly methods to do this include Micrososfts Data Transfer Kit (which will cost you $15), Datel XSATA (Which will cost you around $50), and Datel XPORT (which will cost you aorund $50).
* On a personal note, it would be advised that if you are going to use this program, store a backup copy of your game save on your computer, as this program has a really small chance of completely corrupting your game save, as it has happened to me once already. I am not responsible for anybodys game save files being corrupted as a result of using this program, nor is Davo or anybody else here on the forum, nor is the creator of the program XanderChaos. If you choose to use it, you take the risk, hence if it happens, it happens.

You can find useful information along the lines of modding your weapons, shields, class mods, artifacts and grenade mods near the top of the page on this site: http://blmodding.wikidot.com/start . Go over the prefered item type and scroll down to the specific subtype and click it.
That should be all the basic info on Willowtree. Have fun with the program if you choose to do so, and have a nice day
