N to S !!!
Re: How mutch did you like spore?
B-
Spore is stuff. It's junk code that should've never been released.
In addition, SecuROM caused over $200 in damage to my computer.
I hate Spore so much I'm never buying another EA game again.
I'm here because Davo is a friend and there's more at this site than just Spore mods.
(Also, it's spelled "much".)

See the title under my name? It means I'm a moderator. I make it a point to read every new thread when I log on to make sure golf companies aren't spamming the forum.
You're welcome.

Why are you asking if people like or hate Spore if you're unwilling to hear from the people that hate it?
If you just want a circle-jerk of fellow Sporetards, go back to the Sporum where EA will protect people like you from dissatisfied customers like me.

Re: How mutch did you like spore?
Yeah, SecuROM sucks so bad, I must agree. I enjoyed the game when I used to play it however, and I would like to know why you hated Spore so much. With zero vulgarities, please, otherwise you can just skip explaining it entirely. I want to calmly discuss it with you, not argue it.
Re: How mutch did you like spore?
Here's a brief synopsis:
I installed Spore on the day it was released and played it for a week.
Patch 1 was then released and made the game completely unplayable (invisible creatures, missing animations, no sound).
A month later, a player found that the Spore executable was conflicting with an unknown process (SecuROM) for CPU priority. They proposed a solution that set the Spore executable as low priority giving SecuROM free reign of the system. Maxis approved the fix.
Within an hour of implementing the fix, it had fried a 1GB stick of RAM in my computer.
I uninstalled Spore, ran the official SecuROM removal utility, and followed reclaimyourgame.com's instructions to manually remove all the components that the "official" tool missed.
Two months later, my system and OS was hijacked by a Trojan that entered through a security hole left by SecuROM. Two firewalls (one hardware, one software) and AVG 8.0 completely failed to prevent it. Fixing the issue required the purchase of a brand new hard drive and a weekend of reinstalling Windows and all the system utilities and drivers.
Months after that, I tried playing Tropico 3 and found that the Shader in my video card was no longer working. No other game I'd played until then required Shader, so I assume Spore/SecuROM had fried it too.
Now go take a look at the Sporum's Help section and read all the entries where people have had to reformat their drives or had other hardware issues. Then try to tell me that it's just me. Because that's the response I got from EA and the Sporetards when I brought up the problems in the first place.

Re: How mutch did you like spore?
Interesting. I had heard about these problems, but had never actually encountered them (because I got Spore after Patch 1.2) Thank you for sharing.

i hope this isnt what is happening with my game.
ever since i downloaded darkspore on my pc. these same problems are occuring to me as we speak, my comps physical memory is burning up. my ram is fine, my cpu is fine, but the PM cache is really messed up, all my games run fine for about 5 minutes. then the lag sets in and i need to minimize the game and let it 'catch up'! damnit EA!
