No penalty for allying with the grox mod?

Please keep in mind that if your request is not granted immediately, that doesn't mean it never will be. Sooner or later, someone may well pop in and try to make it happen. Patience is a virtue. Just...don't go around begging and annoying people over it.
Additionally, be aware that while the Spore ModAPI has empowered mod developers like never before, our ability to add "new" functionality still has its limits, so if there's nothing in Spore that can already do it, we may not be able to either. Nothing is lost in asking, but don't get your hopes up, especially not for anything really big.

No penalty for allying with the grox mod?
I have recently done some tests to see if a mod ive been using still works, which i have found out that does not, the Noangerfromallies.package mod, which made it so when you ally with the grox, the galaxy wont hate you for it. Is there any mod out there for current versions of spore that works?

Not as far as I'm aware, but updating mods yourself isn't exactly a difficult task...

Re: No penalty for allying with the grox mod?
the weird thing is, the creator of this mod had an installation path guide for the origin version as well, so i assumed it would work with the current version. however it didnt on mine.rob55rod wrote:Not as far as I'm aware, but updating mods yourself isn't exactly a difficult task...
Id love to be able to update it myself, but i dont know how, if you want to teach me, or show me in some way, i can try i know google exists, but i do not have the free time to sit down and teach myself everything from scratch, as ive never done this before.

Well it's actually dead simple...it's just not documented anywhereparanoid_modder wrote:the weird thing is, the creator of this mod had an installation path guide for the origin version as well, so i assumed it would work with the current version. however it didnt on mine.rob55rod wrote:Not as far as I'm aware, but updating mods yourself isn't exactly a difficult task...

The following instructions assume you have SporeModder installed and running with administrator privileges
Step 1. Unpack the mod
Step 2. Go to File > Project Settings > Packing Settings
Step 3. Change the "Embed editorsPackages~ file" option to "GA Patch 5.1"
Step 4. Click Accept
Step 5. Repack the mod

i did all the steps, unpacked the mod, opened the file inside sporemodder, and then did the GA patch, but then, repacking it gave me this error:rob55rod wrote:Well it's actually dead simple...it's just not documented anywhereparanoid_modder wrote:the weird thing is, the creator of this mod had an installation path guide for the origin version as well, so i assumed it would work with the current version. however it didnt on mine.rob55rod wrote:Not as far as I'm aware, but updating mods yourself isn't exactly a difficult task...

Right...I thought Emd fixed that bug. Anywaves, go to Project Settings, somewhere in there you chould be able to set a custom path to pack to. Set it to custom and browse to your GA Data folder.paranoid_modder wrote:i did all the steps, unpacked the mod, opened the file inside sporemodder, and then did the GA patch, but then, repacking it gave me this error:rob55rod wrote:Well it's actually dead simple...it's just not documented anywhereparanoid_modder wrote:

allright, did that, it seemed to have packed it without problems. didnt give me any "packed successfully" message but it did put the mod in the folder.rob55rod wrote:Right...I thought Emd fixed that bug. it works now! my spore is completely fixed! again, thank you so much for your patience and your help i really really appriciate it!
Re: No penalty for allying with the grox mod?
That's normal, SporeModder isn't supposed to notify you of success.paranoid_modder wrote:allright, did that, it seemed to have packed it without problems. didnt give me any "packed successfully" message
Great to hear.paranoid_modder wrote:but it did put the mod in the folder.

No problem ^-^paranoid_modder wrote:again, thank you so much for your patience and your help i really really appriciate it!
Also...do you know who originally released the mod? If you can get their permission to release an update (assuming they hadn't previously stated they allowed derivative works), then it'd be nice to have an updated version available for anyone who wants it.
Heck, if the dev is long gone, I doubt they'd care about it being re-released for compatibility reasons...

Re: No penalty for allying with the grox mod?
Update: So I was talking to Emd on Discord about that path error you were having earlier, and he asked what exactly it was. I came back to this thread to retrieve your screenshot of it to send to him, and I noticed while doing so that the mod was developed by Bitl. Happens that I'd noticed prior that Bitl was in a Discord server I'm in, so I was able to reach him via Discord DMs and confirm that he's fine with you releasing the updated mod :ODparanoid_modder wrote:-snip-
