If I can give any criticism on the creature creator GUI, I'd suggest enlarging the parts palette, and lowering overall font size.

I have been looking in darkspores files with SporeModder and had a look in the ServerData package for posible clues to hosting a private/public darkspore server and i found a sertain file quite intreeding (DebugServer.#70efc65 in the folder #32b7d77a) and it talks about things such as userdata and a form of spore hack (-- TODO: This next bit is a hack for Spore. It displays some elements that are normally only accessible-- via a metatable hop. This type of functionality is more generally useful and should be made-- into a well-defined feature that projects can use.)and as i do not understand much of this i would like someone to please look into this. And i beleive it is also related to the picture in the quote above. :|

when darkspore was in beta, i managed to make a mod that bypassed the login button and go straight in to the game, even when beta servers were off. never got past the character screen tho i believe.
