Re: Spore Videos

Here's an experiment I did with chroma keying (read the description for more info): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=no6N2_v_xKA This is actually pretty cool. You used the black backdrop as a greenscreen (blackscreen?) I figure? The description of the video says: "To make this I used a combinati...

Re: Standalone Mod Requests

agreed, except for #2. i use depth handles on every part for maximum part adjustment capabilities so this isn't really applicable, it uses whatever version of the parts you've got installed, with or without handles 1. Having those handles on the stock parts means you've installed DI incorrectly 2. ...

Re: Standalone Mod Requests

I'm gonna self plug and recommend my mod Dark Genetics, which does almost exactly that. All core spore creature parts are duplicated into ones that can recolor the way you specified. http://davoonline.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=5012 careful with the installation if you do use this, it tends to trip ...

A little experiment with C++, BMPs, and SMDs

Having only taken one coding class ever last year, I decided to refresh a bit, and ended up making something mildly interesting and utterly useless which I'm still proud of. Wrote a program in C/C++ which converts a bitmap into a "vertex-range" 3d model in SMD format. I couldn't properly g...

Re: [POLL] Which Shimmer UI Category style do you prefer?

I like the white box, it make it look a bit more organized. maybe experiment with the brightness of it though, if you aren't liking the white shade, you could always afford to make it darker Hm, hadn't thought about an inbetween. Thanks for the suggestion. Also...did you actually vote up above? 'ca...

I didn't know cats were aquatic...

But aside from that, these look really cool. I also like how you have templates for different swimming styles.

Re: Leaving spaceship possible?

you can't really just create algorithms in Spore modding, we don't have access to the source code. we can only really use what we've already got, in terms of code bits

Re: Spore Resurrection: Next Steps

The animations from the creature creator, i've heard, are in a different format than the ones present in the base game, and currently cannot be used. If that has been rectified recently then I'm not aware of it.

Re: Strange and Beautiful: Unique creature parts!

Seeing this mod being developed by someone outside of the SR team is somehow very comforting and hopeful to me, it means that not only is the tool and the team who has worked with it effective, it means that the community is far more able to get their own creativity out there in a way that's so much...
