Re: SR:NS Editor UI Contest

Well, if other contestants are moving the elements to new locations, then why not me, too? Didn't I do that already, in fact? :-D
And didn't I give a new background, too.
I propose to extend the rules of this contest, rather than to limit us to just the same design as before. :-)
Makes sense.

Re: SR:NS Editor UI Contest

That is, why I was asking right at the begin, if we have now the ability to resize and reposition interface items. Remember?
If I submit a UI, it must be superior in usability, too - not just to use a few different colors...

Re: SR:NS Editor UI Contest

No problem. I remember your words, that this still can qualify as mod proposal (even though I posted it here): Note that while for this contest, all UIs have to follow the SRNS UI cosmetic style, that doesn't mean you can't submit non-SRNS-styled UIs to the mod request section. To make the UI more u...

Re: SR:NS Editor UI Contest

Here my entry. Explanations For the colors of the "Planetar UI", I decided to use natural colors: brown sand and rock shades, and also gray rock color for text and signs and items. The UI consists of a wide, large crater, and in the middle of the crater is the creature to be developed. You...

Re: SR:NS Editor UI Contest

Okay, thanks. And very good! Means, I don't need to design a UI based on traditional layouts. And you also said, that the creature editor does not have that boring meadow design? Even better! Will start with my work.

Re: SR:NS Editor UI Contest

Now that you decoded the UI, let me ask you if you're also able now to resize some of its elements (like selectable body parts) and/or if you can re-position some of the UI elements to new locations. If so, I could really give you plenty of UIs! Also, can you now create new editor environments (to r...

Re: Please Guide Me - Making My Very First Own Mod

Exactly. Because I tried already to search for "toolAtmosphereColorIndex". But that is just the identifier name within these planetary colorizing tools. What we need to look for, are numbers, such as "11", "63", and such. But ... plenty numbers out there. Like inhabited...

Re: Please Guide Me - Making My Very First Own Mod

I used a software to search within all prop xml files for any occurrence of the identifier "toolAtmosphereColorIndex", but it appears that this identifier name exists only within the planet colorizing tool files. But it is a MUST, that such a list of predefined colors exist somewhere. We j...

Re: Please Guide Me - Making My Very First Own Mod

Yes, that was my fear. Thanks for confirming it.

But can't I just create a totally new prop file that contains RGBF (RGB + filter/transparency) definitions for many colors, and refer to that file from within the new tool prop file?

Re: Please Guide Me - Making My Very First Own Mod

So, what would be the way to change the color then? Basically, just replacing the "11" with any number from 1 to 64 (the highest index number I found), right? But I don't know, what number equals to what color. And that means, I would have to create a tool and assign number "2" t...

Re: Please Guide Me - Making My Very First Own Mod

No, I don't mean that. If you look into the source code of the "ColorAtmoBlue.Prop.xml" (tool that creates a blue atmosphere on a planet), you will see: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <properties> <string16 name="description">color atmo blue</string16>...

Re: Please Guide Me - Making My Very First Own Mod

Thanks for the motivated (but small-printed) words, ha ha ha! Trying to start with something hopefully relatively easy. There are two things I have in mind: - creating new planet colorizing tools that just point to one unused predefined color of that color index - or adding my own new colors to that...

Re: Mod to remove maxis Creatures ONLY?

Saw it now. Thanks. I am going to open an own thread, because for my very first modding attempt I will require some helping hand. Probably not a difficult thing I want to do. But some tips would be nice. Here is the URL: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5569

Please Guide Me - Making My Very First Own Mod

Hi, it's time to make my very first own mod. I downloaded SporeMaster and try now to become master of the spores. My intention is, to create a mod for the gameplay of Galactic Games: some additional planet-colorizing tools. I was reading already http://spore-modding.wikia.com/wiki/How_to_make_a_new_...

Re: Mod to remove maxis Creatures ONLY?

Aaaaaaaalright. That was too fast for me as modding novice (have still no master to teach me the power). I need instructions how to remove all these Maxis creations. Is there even a way, to replace each Maxis creation with one of my own ones? That would be the dream of all dreams! And I need to know...

Re: ---solved--- UNLIMITED COMPLEXITY FOR ALL EDITORS

Yes. I lost 12 hours of work on a superb ship. Had break times in between, though. Total frustration. But at least, I made a video clip of it. So the memory lives on. :-)

Re: Spore 2? / Spore Servers still down...

Yes, after some long thinking about that matter, I carefully would share your view: there won't be a Spore 2. Not at least under this name, and not without first statements to the mass media in order to get potential buyers enthusiastic. And that did not happen. I am also very, very sure, your mods ...

Spore 2? / Spore Servers still down...

They said, it is only a "regular" small maintenance. That wouldn't take more than a few hours normally, even, if the entire computer system is being replaced. But still, after soon a week, the Spore servers are still down, and sharing is not anymore possible. I have some bad feelings about...

Re: ---solved--- UNLIMITED COMPLEXITY FOR ALL EDITORS

Well, the yellow manipulation arrows are huge, and also, if you build a spaceship that exceeds a certain length, you're not anymore able to save. Happened to me. Spent hours in building. Was sad I couldn't save, ha ha ha!
